Bringing WHO, HOW & WHAT together to globalize local solutions
In the field of whole system solutions, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of frameworks, methods and approaches. To coordinate across geographic, cultural and political boundaries, a common, universal language for collaboration is needed.
Based on the patterns of nature, Empowerment WORKS' 7 Stages to Sustainability and Partners in Empowerment frameworks are extremely simple and relevant to business, community and technology development.
Within the evolving web of collaboration systems, these two frameworks are both tools on their own, and most importantly serve to aggregate the many more "who and how" parts (the diverse players and relevant methods used), while leaving the vast "WHAT" (unique localized needs, issues & solutions) open for whoever is at the table, or most importantly, on the ground, to determine.
In the context of supporting global, multi-sector, mass-collaboration, considering the following who, how & what frameworks together in a whole-system increases the functional value of each:
- WHO: 6 Sectors of Partners in Empowerment = the unique roles we play & gifts we bring
- HOW: 7 Stages to Sustainability = natural system pattern we use to co-create solutions
- WHAT: 12 Pillar Wheel of Co-Creation = issues & impact needs for a sustainable world

Why "this" Wheel: Looking online, one can find several similar Wheels with 12 Pillars. Empowerment WORKS has selected this one as it was developed with the purpose of identifying WHAT works by renowned social architect and futurist, Barbara Marx-Hubbard. When combined with WHO & HOW (6 Sectors and 7 Stages) frameworks, this wheel is most SCALABLE and thus supports a template that WORKS for 100% of Humanity.
NOTE: While recommended as a way to categorize and thus more effectively share solutions, no framework is suggested to dictate a list of issues. Depending on the context, we recommend many other impact area frameworks, such as the 8 Millennium Development Goals supported by the United Nations, emphasizing poverty reduction, gender equity and child development.
Whole System Impact
Working in synergy with other tools, 7SS and PIE work to co-create a whole system collaborative space that recognizes key functions, human needs and resources of human-kind and the planet.
Through advancing such a universal whole system, Empowerment WORKS aims to facilitate collaboration and sharing of solutions across the environmental sustainability, international economic development, social change, and human potential movements.
